The show is upon us!
Following on the success of our inaugural event in 2009, the 2010 PHOTO & FILM EXPO now has more exhibition stalls, double the number of workshops and a full representation of the industry.
We’ve listened to your compliments and suggestions and put together an event with even more great deals, latest product launches and prizes worth well over half a Million Rand.

Media Morning
At the request of the media (and partly due to the fact we couldn’t fit our hectic program into three days) we are opening the show a day earlier. The show will therefor open on Thursday the 14th October and free access will be granted to accredited and invited media attendees between 9am & noon (accreditation is available to mainstream publications, radio and television) - this gives members of the media a chance to get the word out about the show before the weekend starts.

Weekend Passes
For those of you who can’t get too much of a good thing we will have ‘weekend’ passes available for purchase at the door, the price of these passes remains unchanged at R200 despite the extra day and bonus activities (valid from Thursday till Sunday). These tickets are limited and sales open first thing on Thursday morning - at the door.

Workshops
In addition to the brand new unique workshop line-up by South African industry leaders, we also have international presenters. Stay tuned to www.photofilmexpo.com to download the full workshop program consisting of well over 30 presentations and as many product demonstrations during the course of the event.
Workshops are all free to attendees (ticket prices are unchanged at R80 for adults and R40 for teens), and cover a full range of topics to cater to the entire industry.
This year workshops will cater to beginner, intermediate and advanced audiences.

Feature areas
Last year we created the underwater area, a dedicated beauty area with body-painter and make-up artists, and much more.. This year we’re expanding on those areas to offer more interactive content to keep you entertained between the new products, store bargains and workshops.
Additional features include live studio demonstrations and giveaways, there’s plenty to keep everyone busy for hours.

Prizes, contests & bargains
As if free workshops and a platform to mingle at the largest industry gathering on the continent weren’t enough - exhibitors at the PHOTO & FILM EXPO this year have gone all out to offer the best deals to visitors. Last year a number of the stalls ran out of stock due to the unexpected turnout but this year they come prepared with ample staff and equipment, as well as a number of new releases fresh from their international launches at Photokina in Germany.
The only thing that beats a great bargain is a great give-away and this year the prizes are numerous... In addition to hand-outs and limited offer promos at the event there are contests for best picture taken at the show (so bring your cameras of course) as well as several competitions leading up to the event.
By entering the lucky draw online (see entry details in side-bar) you can stand in line to win  R150 000 in vouchers to spend as you wish on brand new Nikon gear. See www.photofilmcomp.co.za for details.
Canon similarly are giving away R180 000 worth of prizes to visitors who buy gear from their stand.
Sony are giving away 2 x NEX 5K cameras too and there are loads of other giveaways taking place throughout the expo.

Watch the local press to see details of other amazing contests leading up to the show, and be first to know by joining the online Facebook group here

Interactive & hands-on
If you were at last years event you’ll understand the general principles behind this event are to provide a platform for industry networking, establish the industry as a united community and develop interest from Joe Public. There’s a very strong educational foundation and we encourage people to attend the free workshops and take part in the hands-on equipment demonstrations taking place on stalls and at the ‘demo area’ provided.
Additionally we have live shoot areas where you will be able to watch people like Walter Borchenko (who has been flown out from Canada by Phase One) in action and see live workflows from start to finish.
